Fashion Jobs – Top of the Crop

From structured boxy cuts to fun and flirty bralets, crop tops are making a comeback this season in a big way. Designers such as Balenciaga, Peter Som and Marc Jacobs all sent crop tops down their Spring/Summer 2013 catwalks, and now major retailers such as Topshop and Urban Outfitters are including midriff-baring pieces in their spring collections. Although some may feel uneasy about the revival of this nineties trend, there’s no need to worry…you don’t need to expose your whole stomach to rock a crop top in 2013!

The new way to wear the trend is to reveal just a small sliver of skin, leaving more to the imagination. A crop top paired with bottoms that are high-waisted allows for a ladylike and sophisticated approach to the style. The key to pulling off this trend in a classy way is to keep everything in balance. Wear a flowy midi skirt with a top that has a tighter fit, or high-waisted shorts with a top that is more drapey. Also, the shorter your crop top is, the higher waisted your bottoms should be in order to compensate. So if you’re entering into bralet territory, low-rise jeans are not the way to go.

Are you going to embrace the crop top trend this season?
