Fashion Jobs Calgary – Trendy & Transitional: Spring Jackets

spring jackets

We’re all itching for warmer weather, and while it’s (hopefully) just around the corner, the temperatures won’t quite be calling for bare arms. We may soon be able to peel back a layer (or three) but a light jacket will still be necessary; get ready to trade in your down for denim and finally breathe in some fresh spring air.

1. The varsity jackets are back making their way to the head of the class. In line with the athletic and sporty trends, these are casual and fun and great with jeans, skinny cords, or even a flippy skirt. Madewell Varsity Zip-Front Jacket, US $98.

2. A moto jacket adds an edge and certain toughness to any outfit and this is no exception. A floral print makes this the feminine cousin of the traditional leather but doesn’t sacrifice the structure and detail that makes these jackets fierce. Wilfred Montesson Jacket, $235, available at Aritzia.

3. I love a utility jacket; I have at least 3-4 to prove it as I find them to be among the most versatile. Lightweight and slight over-sized they’re great for layering, and the style is perfect for jeans and a tee or sweater. Mix it up by wearing it with a maxi dress in the summer. AE Hooded Utility Jacket, $99

4. A trench coat is a spring staple. If you’re only going to buy one new jacket this season and you’re currently trench-less than this is your one. It’s lightweight yet guards again the winds, can be dressed up or down and looks just as fab on 20 year olds as it does 60 year olds. Beige is a traditional choice for a trench but this particular one has a punch of colour. Coach Classic Long Trench, US $498.

5. Other than a trench, it doesn’t get much more classic as a denim jacket for spring. I love these for the ease of them, and wear mine through until the fall. You’ll want something with some stretch in a mid-rinse to pair with most other denims and is a bit dressier, and keep the cut hip length or higher to avoid a dated look.  Gap 1969 Denim Jacket, $79.95.

6. This jacket is a fun, casua,l weekend or errand-running option. It’s coated to be water-repellant so it’s not quite a raincoat but great to keep off the damp and cool breeze. Tulle Clothing, Halcyon Your Way Jacket, US $90, available at Modcloth.
