Spring is finally upon us! Although we have been long awaiting warmer weather, it’s not quite skirt and dress weather yet. However, if you are like me and are tired of wearing jeans and pants to combat the chilly weather, fret not! Here are some ways to cold-proof your style while still being able to comfortably rock the skirt or dress you’ve been dying to wear!

Tights! A must have for any Canadian wardrobe. Soft and opaque tights in many colors can give you the warmth and coverage needed to shield the cold. Try lighter shades in beige or nude to play and mix around, but definitely keep a (few) black pairs to wear under your dresses and skirts.

Layering with shirts. Expertly wear a shirt under a dress for a layered look that is cozy and warm. Try this look with simple long-sleeved tees or a collared oxford with the collars peeking out underneath. Fitted shirts work best for layering, and give your dresses new life by plating with colours and prints!

Wear with pants. A shorter dress or skirt can totally be worn over pants. Maintain the balance of your outfit by choosing simple skinny pants that are ankle-length, nothing too long or flared. Pair with ballet flats for a put-together look.

High boots. Knee-length or higher (!) boots are already a winter staple, and looks chic layered under a skirt or dress. Keep the boots simple in black, and wear them underneath your skirt or dress of choice!
