Toronto Fashion Jobs – Spring Trend: A Lighter Take On Leather

Wednesday, May 1st, 2013

Leather is the least likely textile to go hand-in-hand with spring, but this season, designers decided to play up on this abstract movement, enforcing the truthful motto, “opposites attract.”

It has been believed that leather is only acceptable and manageable during the cooler months, primarily featured in Fall/Winter collections. There are two key points to obey when making the sleek leather transition into spring: A) Ensure you keep a lighter colour palette – no black or dark brown leather jackets acceptable! Brands like Marni, Miu Miu, Thierry Mugler, and Fendi opted for a balance of white and pastels, maintaining a fresh look. B) Factor shape onto the drawing board when selecting leather pieces to update your wardrobe. Plenty of leather skater skirts with cutouts, and leather moto vests are huge in major retailers right now.

Will you help break the myth this season?

Vancouver Fashion Jobs – Style from Ireland

Friday, March 8th, 2013

It’s no secret that the United Kingdom is fashion forward and with St. Patrick’s Day around the corner, I can’t help but be curious about the trends being worn in Ireland. Just like Canada, they’re just as excited for warm weather and sunshine as we are! After reading numerous Irish fashion blogs, I’ve narrowed down the major trends they’re talking about: bomber jackets, cropped trousers and mixing black and white prints, sound familiar? And the best part about these trends is that they’re perfect transitional pieces to take us from winter to spring, almost as good as finding gold at the end of the rainbow!

Vancouver Fashion Jobs – Snow White

Monday, January 14th, 2013

White in fashion has always carried a bad rep, it is either you love it or hate it, but honestly, the color is not for every body, so choose your pieces wisely. We have all seen the dreaded too tight white pant or the token ‘wet white tee’ contest! In fact, white is a classic basic that can really be chic if worn properly and I think we can thank winter fashions for doing so. Layering cream colored knits with printed pants or a sophisticated winter white peplum dress can really be a lovely style statement. When the weather is a bit drab, it can really brighten up an outfit and maybe even someone’s day! Take a chance on white this winter, your wardrobe will thank you for it!

Montreal Fashion Jobs – The Winter Skirt

Thursday, November 17th, 2011

Wearing a black power skirt every time you’re trousers are in the wash can get a little… well, boring. This winter, try a whimsical look and opt for a long flowy maxi skirt instead. Mary-Kate and Ashley have been rocking this romantic, boho inspired trend since their early days – proof that the look has no height requirement. Although the look originally caught fire this summer, you can easily transform summer’s floor length wonders into winter staples. Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren all went long for their fall 2011 RTW collections. Simply look for long skirts in darker colours (brown, burnt orange, mustard yellow, army green, navy) and winter-friendly fabrics like suede, cotton, velour, and denim.
