Fashion Jobs – Spring Forward

Thursday, February 21st, 2013

As much as I love dressing up in layers to walk Mother Nature’s cold catwalk, the thought of warm weather and sunshine is more exciting! Last year florals and pastels were quite large, however, those colours and prints are always “in” for spring weather. This year is going to be different. Bold neon colours, cutouts, mixing monochromatic prints and lace are the new trends for Spring 2013. To say that I am excited for the new season would be an understatement because these looks add their own individual edge. Outfits will speak loud without words accompanying the sunshine with a variety of bright colours, not only with clothes, but shoes and accessories. The cutout trend is a fun way to show a little bit of skin, mixing black and white prints brings a funky edge or add lace for an elegant touch! Luckily the new spring trends are beginning to come out now, making it easy to layer with your winter wardrobe! Why wait any longer to bring a little sunshine into your life?

Montreal Fashion Jobs – Going To The Chapel

Tuesday, May 29th, 2012

Wedding season is upon us, and if you’re not the bride or a bridesmaid it can be tricky to choose just the right ensemble. These flirty frocks are wedding-appropriate and still let you shine. Even if the ceremony isn’t in a religious venue, you should try to avoid anything too provocative, but that doesn’t have to mean dowdy. Longer hemlines are uber-flattering when paired with a fitted silhouette, and 50s and 60s-inspired styles are cute and feminine without showing too much skin.

1. BCBG Alice Lace Sheath Dress, $248
2. French Connection Electric Meadow Flare Dress, $128
3. Roksanda Ilincic Washed Satin-Jersey Midi Dress, $1050, available at Net-A-Porter
4. ASOS Midi Dress with Cut Out Side And Back, $53
5. Smart Set Pleated Chiffon Dress, $27
6. ModCloth Beachfront View Dress, $128

Montreal Fashion Jobs – Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend

Wednesday, December 28th, 2011

With New Year’s Eve fast approaching, what every girl needs is some fabulous bling. Luckily, this season’s jewelry trends are BIG on diamonds and rhinestones. Think sparkly statement necklaces and earrings, oversized rings and eye-catching bracelets. Keep in mind the cardinal rule of fashion, according to Coco Chanel: “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off”. So keep it simple with your favourite shiny confection and leave the rest at home.

Toronto Fashion Jobs – How To Rock The Ugly Sweater

Wednesday, December 21st, 2011

The Ugly Christmas Sweater Party is a relatively new tradition that’s getting more popular every year. But no one wants to look truly “ugly” at a party, right? If you have an invite to such a shindig, you can downplay the frump factor by playing up your legs; just wear a longer sweater as a dress with tights and high-heeled boots. You can also find a sweater that, while holiday-themed, isn’t all that ugly, and if someone accuses you of ignoring the theme, just feign innocence and change the subject. (“What? This sweater is cute? We must have different taste. Pass the eggnog?”) Here are some picks for a non-ugly Ugly Christmas Sweater to get you through the holidays in style.

1. AE Fair Isle Long Sweater ($61.44), available at American Eagle.

2. Woman’s Cable Knit Pullover ($70), available at American Apparel.

3. Knitted Reindeer Jumper ($79.77), available at TopShop.

4. Rise Striped Sweater ($158), available at BCBG.

5. Staring at Stars Printed Holiday Pullover ($39), available at Urban Outfitters.

6. Deer Head Sweater ($23.80), available at Forever 21.
