Fashion Jobs – Spring Forward

Thursday, February 21st, 2013

As much as I love dressing up in layers to walk Mother Nature’s cold catwalk, the thought of warm weather and sunshine is more exciting! Last year florals and pastels were quite large, however, those colours and prints are always “in” for spring weather. This year is going to be different. Bold neon colours, cutouts, mixing monochromatic prints and lace are the new trends for Spring 2013. To say that I am excited for the new season would be an understatement because these looks add their own individual edge. Outfits will speak loud without words accompanying the sunshine with a variety of bright colours, not only with clothes, but shoes and accessories. The cutout trend is a fun way to show a little bit of skin, mixing black and white prints brings a funky edge or add lace for an elegant touch! Luckily the new spring trends are beginning to come out now, making it easy to layer with your winter wardrobe! Why wait any longer to bring a little sunshine into your life?

Toronto Fashion Jobs – Far East Movement

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2012

Ride the Orient express this season and travel to ancient empires to celebrate Eastern origins for a movement that embraces the Far East. Designers ushered in the year of the dragon with textiles, motifs and adornments that rang true to Chinese nobility. Fall’s exotic mood and strong theme is rich in embroidery with ornamentation in traditional Asian influences like prominent florals, birds, fish and noble dragons for impact prints that were both beautiful and contemporary. Take cues from reigning style Emperor, Jason Wu, who sent blossoming opulent brocades and printed silks down the runway alongside gilded accents and shanghai tassels for a charming and elegant taste of the trend. This season visions of stunning geishas and brave samurais dancing along the Silk Road can be made true with luxurious fabrics and vibrant prints that add a touch of seductive glamour with Empress-worthy extras like mandarin collars and kimono details. No longer is the art of noble dressing an ancient Chinese secret.

Vancouver Fashion Jobs – First Look: Fall 2012

Monday, August 13th, 2012

Keep an eye out for these key trends, inspired by the Fall 2012 runways, to update your wardrobe for the coming months.

(Left to right: Rag & Bone, Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang)

Wrap Skirts

Wrap skirts are more modest than a mini but still show off a little leg, and their architectural flair adds playful visual interest to any outfit. Look for pieces in cozy wool or something silkier for a streamlined silhouette.

(Left to right: Tommy Hilfiger, Thakoon, Monique Lhuillier)

Leather Love

Leather is always a popular look in the cooler months, and it was popping up everywhere this season from head to toe. Think jackets, tops, coats, and skirts for an ultra-sumptuous look. Red leather was also a favourite of designers like Tommy Hilfiger, Thakoon, and Monique Lhuillier.

(Left to right: Michael Kors, Naeem Khan, Jason Wu)

Gold Dresses

Shimmering, gilded gowns were the evening look of choice for several designers, including Michael Kors, Naeem Khan, and Jason Wu. Pair this trend with minimal accessories to let the pieces stand out on their own. It’s perfect for a night out with friends or any time you really want to shine.

Edmonton Fashion Jobs – Tuxedo Dressing

The latest look in refined elegance is pure tux luxe. As seen on the runways of Jason Wu, Ralph Lauren and Moschino, tuxedo inspired womenswear is a prominent trend for the fall/winter season. The traditionally male tuxedo has been re-styled in must-have feminine silhouettes and stunningly unconventional designs, without sacrificing the classic black and white color blocking or the eternally chic, understated style content. To complete your tuxedo inspired look, select sleek accessories and black-tie swagger.
