Finding the perfect outfit for a job interview in the winter can be a little difficult, especially when staying warm is a main concern. Piling on sweaters can look disorganized and unprofessional, however the key is finding the right medium. An ensemble taking both style and practicality into account is the ideal goal. Unfortunately, we aren’t so lucky to live in year-round tropical weather and are forced to get creative when the temperatures drop. However, this fall/winter season, a few practical trends have surfaced. One of my personal favourites is the runway-ready oversized wool coat. Mango’s seasonal collection included the affordable textured wool-blend oversized coat at an affordable $79.95. The oversized coat gives a semi-formal, semi-casual look and can be paired with any outfit. Another popular trend this season is the printed pencil skirt; luckily warmth this season won’t be compromised since conservative is the new sexy. Zara’s collection includes a few skirts with gorgeous and unique patterns, the bright blue print pencil skirt sold at $69.90. The bold statement piece can be topped with one of H&M basics, the black long sleeved chiffon blouse at $49.95. These pieces can be easily mixed and matched, and customized to your own style by adding your favourite pumps or accessory. This outfit is suitable for any job interview and is sure to give an amazing first impression, if not land you that coveted position.

Inject a dose of high holiday glamour into your wardrobe this season with a little shoe shine in the shape of a molten-hot metallic heel fit for dazzling a crowd. Montreal Fashion Jobs – Oversized Proportions

Monday, October 22nd, 2012

Think big and become larger than life this season with your cool fall outerwear reaching new heights and oversized proportions. The cool coat silhouette is impeccably tailored for a classic menswear vibe with sloped shoulders and wrappable features that allow you to bundle up and get cozy this fall.
While big is beautiful, this vintage meets boyish shape is created in long lengths with slouchy shoulders, pillow sleeves and plenty of room, perfect for warm layers in a cocoon styled coat.
Although the shape is not the most flattering for your figure, the key to wearing this outerwear trend is balance. To unlock maximum volume consider proportions and the rule of opposites attract. Contrast your voluminous coat with sleek and slim pairings like a razor thin pencil skirt or fitted trousers to create the illusion of a shapelier figure. Play with bold details in your oversized coat like large lapels or spacious pockets to add a streamlined, structured cut and edge.
The ease and effortlessness of an oversized coat is much like throwing on a comfy blanket to beat the seasonal chill with subtle drama and modern elegance. Get wrapped up today with this supersized silhouette in the shape of oversized coats.

Vancouver Fashion Jobs – Laced Up

Tuesday, September 4th, 2012

Timelessly elegant and sweetly sophisticated lace is one trend that we continue to see receive a contemporary, chic update each new season. Fall 2012 being no exception, designers like Erdem, Jason Wu, and Nanette Lapore re-created classic romantic lace with a twist, mixing the pastel or neon trends from the Spring and Summer in with darker, more prominent fare to reflect the cooler season ahead. A perfect mix of sweet and sexy, this remixed feminine lace gets a touch of bold saturated color to create lust worthy standout style amongst a sea of earthy tones and brooding black. To amp up lace’s modern makeover opt for pieces that are overlaid and appliquéd over top a neutral shade like black, or come in vivid colors and sleek silhouettes for high-fashion style. The end result is lavishly luxe and richly opulent, leaving us to once again covet this new crop of pretty lace pieces.
