Toronto Fashion Jobs – Spring Into Your Wardrobe

Wednesday, March 27th, 2013

It’s officially Spring and I can’t be more excited! Mixing bright colours into outfits inspired by the sunshine is what we’ve been waiting for since the beginning of fall. With that said, the transition from winter to springtime can be an adventurous period to play with different looks. The key word now is “layering.” My favourite way to reintroduce spring fashion into our everyday lives is layering those pieces with winter staples, because it’s still far too cold to sporting short dresses, however, by adding a cool leather jacket, tights and booties- it’s a whole different look you can get away with now. Another fun look to play with is rolling up boyfriend jeans with funky pumps and tops layered with warm winter cozy sweaters! Being practical and stylish can go hand and hand this time of year, so why not experiment and have a little fun?

Calgary Fashion Jobs – New Year, New You

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2013

Tired of being referred to as “plain Jane” or is that even a name you have self-awarded to yourself? Sometimes, that fresh mental outlook is in need of some physical revamping. A change in wardrobe selections, colour palette and even hairstyle can sometimes be just what you’re calling for, after some sort of change happening in other aspects of your life. Think of it as a physical outlet for releasing some of that enclosed tension. To release this, try these bold ideas below and feel yourself unleash from your comfort zone.

1. We Work Out: Okay, so maybe you don’t work out. Fitness guru or not, this sporty girl look is fun and flirtatious, and fit for those who love to look effortlessly chic!

2. Le Freak: If you’re typically a more muted dresser when it comes to colour and shape of the garments you wear, indulge in a more eccentric look adding neon hues and irregular lines. It’ll sure have others look at you in a different light, literally.

3. Rebel, Rebel: Naturally a good girl at heart? Returning to school with more of a “wild child” look, may be good for giving classmates a little bit of intimidation. It’s good to keep them guessing, and also, may be good for proving you’re not one to be walked all over.

4. Pop Art: As a pop art enthusiast and twiggy admirer, if your goal in 2013 is to be more environmentally friendly or to promote more love and respect, then you may be finding yourself seeking touch with a blast from the past: the mod 60s.

5. Cultural Escapade: Whether you’ve been outside of your own country or not, there is a new way to travel to various ends of the earth with style. A safari look was seen at Kenzo, Etro, MaxMara and Gucci, taking us on a trip through the outback at home base. Adventurous girl or not, this utility trend plays with colour, texture, print, graphics and shape.

Montreal Fashion Jobs – Tuxedo Trend

Tuesday, December 25th, 2012

This past month we saw the release of the newest installation in the 007 franchise. When you think of the infamous James Bond character, the first thoughts that come to mind are fabulous tailored suits and gorgeous women. Now combine those two factors together and you have a trend that took over the Winter 2012/2013 runways. Celebrities from Janelle Monae to Ashley Olsen have joined the gentleman’s club this past year by rocking this exclusively male outfit with their own feminine twist. A trend that can easily be emulated as designers are beginning to cinch in the waist of their tuxedo jackets to cater to this androgynous look. Try pairing an oversized blazer with fitted jeans or even some high wasted sequins shorts for your very own bond inspired look this season.

1. Style Inspiration: From Left to Right – Lanvin, Stella McCartney, Christian Dior Spring/Summer 2013 Collections
2. Rag & Bone Metallic Brocade Tuxedo Jacket, $895, available at Net-A-Porter
3. Day Birger Et Mikkelsen Sequined Silk blazer, $549, available at Net-A-Porter
4. J. Crew Tuxedo Wool and Silk-Blend Twill Jacket, $450, available at Net-A-Porter

Calgary Fashion Jobs – Runway to Everyday

Wednesday, December 12th, 2012

I absolutely love going to fashion shows, the whole atmosphere makes me shiver with excitement but every time I go to one, I ask myself the same question. As gorgeous designs spill onto the runway, I find myself wondering if the extravagant clothing would really work on every day, ordinary people. Not everyone works in a high fashion environment, so some of the pieces we see may be a bit too much for the average person. This season, I’ve seen a ton of bold prints, dark velvet and leather. When I first heard about these three trends making their way onto the fashion map again, I was a bit skeptical. The first thought that popped into my head was a cheesy ‘70s suit with a paisley top, but as designers incorporated these three elements into their Winter 2012 collections, I quickly changed my mind. Using the runway as your inspiration, you can easily follow the season’s hottest trends by picking a few staple pieces to add to your wardrobe.

Sunday, November 18th, 2012

We Canadians deal with the harsh winters every year, battling another long and tiring season of cruel temperatures and seemingly endless snow. Thus being the reason why it is so important for us to source out a good quality, durable overcoat, to keep us warm and sane month-by-month. Vancouver Fashion Jobs – Floral Inclination

Thursday, September 13th, 2012

With the bright, playful garden-party florals of the Spring and Summer behind us, it is hard to believe that a rose by any other name could still smell as sweet, and yet, the Fall has brought with it a new set of blossoms entirely its own for us to covet. In a darker, more sultry approach to the trend, Fall 2012 features modern updates on floral styling – as a stand-out bouquet on a sleek blouse, growing in the overlay of a pair of chic driving gloves, patterned on a statement necklace, scarf or evening clutch, or budding in a neutral tone on a wardrobe staple like the skinny jean. Untamed and irresistible, this cool weather garden is pure style temptation and we are wearing it everywhere.
