Calgary Fashion Jobs – Holographic Elements

Wednesday, February 20th, 2013

Transitional dressing between seasons can be dismal, especially post-holidays, so I was delighted when I came across See by Chloé’s Pre-Fall 2013 collection for mid-season fashion inspiration. In its third season, the contemporary womenswear label featured a more effervescent approach to its usual bohemian aesthete, through the use of metallic sheen. The result? A collection that felt simultaneously retro and modern, where quilted metallic bomber jackets and silver ankle boots stand up against sixties inspired maxi dresses, slouchy pant-suits and silk chiffon frocks.

Paris’ diffusion label wasn’t the only brand to recently showcase metallic. Holographic hues and iridescent embellishments showed up on various resort shows, and most notably, Stella McCartney’s Spring/Summer 13 RTW collection. To invoke instant insouciant cool-girl chic a la Stella and Chloé, opt for small pops of sparkle, and the trend will speak for itself.

Montreal Fashion Jobs – Tuxedo Trend

Tuesday, December 25th, 2012

This past month we saw the release of the newest installation in the 007 franchise. When you think of the infamous James Bond character, the first thoughts that come to mind are fabulous tailored suits and gorgeous women. Now combine those two factors together and you have a trend that took over the Winter 2012/2013 runways. Celebrities from Janelle Monae to Ashley Olsen have joined the gentleman’s club this past year by rocking this exclusively male outfit with their own feminine twist. A trend that can easily be emulated as designers are beginning to cinch in the waist of their tuxedo jackets to cater to this androgynous look. Try pairing an oversized blazer with fitted jeans or even some high wasted sequins shorts for your very own bond inspired look this season.

Calgary Fashion Jobs – Skater Skirts

Sunday, December 2nd, 2012

As temperatures lower, we tend to get into the habit of layering multiple pieces and sometimes go a littler overboard, resulting in a more frumpy than trendy look. Who says you have to stash away those cute minis just to bear the cold? The skater skirt is inspired by figure skaters, whom themselves year round dash out onto the ice for performance in flared miniskirts with a tight waistline, creating a flirtatious and playful look. This elegant skirt is figure flattering for any body type, creating the illusion of a smaller waistline and slimmer hips. Versatile for a variety of pairing tops, the skater skirt is especially paired perfectly with those comfy oversized knits or when rocked with a ladylike blouse.

Shown on many catwalks for Fall/Winter 2012, from designers such as Stella McCartney to Victoria Beckham, this structured piece is a wardrobe essential, updating your closet with some modern sass. With our festive picks, it is guaranteed you’ll score that perfect 10 at the office Christmas party or date night out – no landed triple axel necessary.

Montreal Fashion Jobs – Working It Out

Thursday, May 17th, 2012

Workout gear has evolved over the past few years from something that is purely utilitarian, to pieces that not only wick sweat, but look good while doing it. No matter what your workout entails, it is best to choose a breathable material that will keep you dry and comfortable – avoid cotton as it will trap moisture against your skin. Workout separates also now include hidden pockets, mesh cut-outs and neon accents to make exercise a little less tedious and a little more fun.

Montreal Fashion Jobs – Paisley Please

Friday, March 16th, 2012

Paisley print is one of the biggest statements for Spring/Summer 2012. Whether it’s Jil Sander‘s (1,2) minimalist bright color combinations of paisley or Stella McCartney‘s (3,4) electric-blue paisley pyjamas, many designers have reinvented this 70′s swirly teardrop and transformed it into a vibrant and more appealing print.

Will you experiment with paisley? Whether you choose a vibrant silk scarf, or a paisley print bottom or top, try not to overindulge on the swirls. Blend it with some bright pop of colors like neon pink, cobalt blue or citrus yellow.
